IIM Shillong was established with a vision to provide high-quality management education and research in the North-Eastern region of India. The institute was conceptualized during the Union HRD Ministry’s meeting with the Chief Ministers of the North Eastern States in June 2004, where it was unanimously decided to establish an IIM in the region. Following consultations with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and State Governments, Shillong was selected as the permanent location.

IIM Shillong continues to build excellence in management education, research, and leadership development for sustainable growth and social impact.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience:

1. Professor

• Qualification: Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree and excellent academic record.

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, with at least 4 years as Associate Professor in reputed institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, IISERs, or equivalent.

• Should possess strong research, training, and consulting credentials.

2. Associate Professor

• Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the relevant field and excellent academic record.

• Experience: Minimum 6 years, including at least 3 years as Assistant Professor.

• Candidates from industry or research organizations with comparable experience may also apply.

3. Assistant Professor Grade–I

• Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the appropriate branch and strong academic record.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience (exceptional candidates may be considered with less experience).

4. Assistant Professor Grade–II (On Contract)

• Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent.

• Experience: Fresh Ph.D. holders may be appointed on a contractual basis to gain teaching and research experience at IIM Shillong.

• UG/PG and Ph.D. in relevant discipline with excellent academic performance.

• Strong communication and presentation skills.

• Passion for teaching, mentoring, and research.

• Proven record of publications in reputed journals.
