Organization Profile: The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

- RA-I in School of Chemical Science (Theoretical and Computational
Materials) under TRC Head
Tenure: This position is temporary (initially up to 31st March, 2025) and can be extended for another 1-year subject to continuation of the project and recommendation of the research advisory committee at the end of the initial tenure. Candidates will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post in the institute.
Essential qualification: PhD in Physics/Chemistry. Desired past research experience: Past research experience in the area of computational materials, high pressure solid-state DFT and plane-wave based calculations. The candidate should have published articles in peer reviewed international journals. The candidate should be able to compute barriers for reactions involving CO2 fixation under thermal or electrochemical
conditions.

Selection procedure: Applications will be shortlisted based on past academic record, research publications, match of the past research expertise with desired requirements and other academic parameters, as decided by the selection committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection. Merely satisfying the essential qualification does not guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. IACS holds the full right of choosing a candidate and even not selecting any, in case suitable applications are not received. Based on the past research experience and academic background, the selection committee holds the right to recommend the placement of the selected candidates as RA-I or RA-II or RA-III as per DST guideline.
