About IIT Hyderabad:
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H), a premier institution of national importance, is renowned for its cutting-edge research and academic excellence. The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME) invites applications for two JRF positions to work on DRDO-sponsored projects focused on advanced materials development for aerospace applications.

Project Details:

  1. Project A: Development of Novel High Entropy Alloys for Cryogenic and High-Temperature Aerospace Applications by Microstructural Engineering (Sponsored by DRDO-ARDB).

  2. Project B: Uniting Ultrahigh Strength and Ductility in Lightweight Aluminum Alloys by Tuning Precipitation and Heterogeneities (Sponsored by DRDO-ARMREB).

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 2 Vacancies

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Essential Qualifications:

    • Option 1:

      • B.E./B.Tech. in Metallurgical/Ceramics/Mechanical (Design/Manufacturing)/Production Engineering/Nanoscience and Technology with a valid GATE score.

    • Option 2:

      • B.Tech. from CFTIs (IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs) in the above disciplines with CGPA ≥ 8.0 (GATE not required).

    • Option 3:

      • M.E./M.Tech. in Metallurgical/Ceramic/Materials/Mechanical (Design/Manufacturing)/Production Engineering/Nanoscience and Technology.

  • Age Limit: 28 years (relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD as per Govt. norms).

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong background in Physical/Mechanical Metallurgy or Materials Processing.

  • Proficiency in scientific writing and research methodology.

Fellowship and Duration:

  • Salary:

    • ₹37,000/month (Years 1–2 as JRF).

    • ₹42,000/month (Year 3 as SRF, subject to performance).

  • Duration: 3 years (extendable by 1 year based on performance).

PhD Opportunity:

Selected candidates must enroll in the PhD program at IIT Hyderabad’s MSME department, subject to meeting institutional requirements.
