Position: Program Director / Director – Centre for Advanced Computing and Artificial Intelligence (CACAI)

The Centre for Advanced Computing and Artificial Intelligence is a flagship research and innovation hub focusing on:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Machine Learning (ML)

  • Data Science

  • High-Performance Computing (HPC)

The Director will lead the Centre’s academic strategy, research ecosystem, and partnerships to advance NAMTECH’s mission of applied, interdisciplinary learning.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Academic Leadership

  • Develop and lead academic, research, and training programs in AI, ML, Data Science, and Advanced Computing.

  • Build partnerships with industry, academia, and government for research and joint initiatives.

  • Create and implement the Centre’s long-term strategic roadmap.

Research & Innovation

  • Drive impactful research in Generative AI, Edge Computing, Applied ML, and Data Analytics.

  • Mentor faculty, researchers, and students in research design, publications, and grant proposals.

  • Establish advanced lab infrastructure: AI labs, HPC clusters, simulation facilities.

Teaching & Mentorship

  • Deliver specialized courses and skill-development workshops.

  • Guide students and faculty in research, innovation, and interdisciplinary projects.

  • Enable real-world applications of AI across domains such as manufacturing, robotics, sustainability, and materials science.

Institutional & Industry Engagement

  • Represent NAMTECH at national/international AI conferences and forums.

  • Build collaborations with technology companies, startups, and research organizations.

  • Support innovation and entrepreneurship through the NAMTECH Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cell.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ph.D. (or Master’s with significant applied expertise) in CS, AI/ML, Data Science, or related fields.

  • 10–20 years of experience in academia, applied research, or R&D leadership.

  • Proven research record: publications, patents, funded projects, or industry collaborations.

  • Experience in establishing or leading research centers/labs.

  • Technical proficiency in:

    • Python

    • TensorFlow, PyTorch

    • R

    • Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)

    • High-Performance Computing systems
