Organization Profile

The concept of Public Service Commissions in India began with the constitutional reform proposals of 1919. The provision for establishing a Public Service Commission was introduced under Section 96-C of the Government of India Act, 1919. Following the recommendations of the Lee Commission (1923), the first Federal Public Service Commission was established in 1926, marking the beginning of organized, merit-based recruitment in India.
Mizoram Public Service Commission continues this legacy by ensuring transparent and fair recruitment processes across the state.

Qualifications

Eligibility – A or B

A. Standard Qualification Route

I. Educational Qualification

  • Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant/concerned/allied subject.

  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PwD candidates (as per specified categories).

  • Relaxation valid only on qualifying exam marks (without grace marks).

II. Additional Requirements

  • Must have cleared NET/SET/SLET,
    OR

  • Should hold a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016).

Ph.D. Exemption Conditions (pre-July 11, 2009 registrants)

Candidate gets NET exemption if:
a) Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
b) Thesis evaluated by 2 external examiners
c) Open viva voce conducted
d) 2 research papers published (1 in refereed journal)
e) 2 conference/seminar presentations (UGC/ICSSR/CSIR funded)
Certification must be issued by Registrar/Dean (Academic).

III. For Hindi Posts

  • M.Ed. with minimum 55% marks is mandatory.

B. Foreign Ph.D. Route

Candidates are eligible if they possess a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked Top 500 globally in any of the following rankings:

  • QS World University Rankings

  • Times Higher Education (THE)

  • Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU – Shanghai)

All documentary evidence must be dated on or before the last date of application
