Role Overview

The Director – AI & Data Science will serve as the founding academic and institutional leader of NAMTECH’s AI & Data Science program. The role involves building and scaling a technology-led, industry-integrated AI and data science ecosystem across undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and executive education programs.

AI & Data Science is envisioned as a core enabler across NAMTECH’s engineering and manufacturing programs, embedding artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making, and digital intelligence throughout the institution.

Key Responsibilities

Academic & Institutional Leadership

• Provide academic and strategic leadership for AI & Data Science across NAMTECH programs

• Position the AI & Data Science program as industry-facing, practice-oriented, and research-enabled

• Align program goals with institutional strategy and Director General’s vision

• Contribute to governance, accreditation readiness, academic policies, and quality frameworks

• Develop national and international academic collaborations

Program & Curriculum Excellence

• Lead curriculum design and continuous enhancement in:

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

  • Data Science, Data Engineering & Advanced Analytics

  • Deep Learning, Generative AI & Intelligent Systems

  • AI Systems, MLOps & Scalable Architectures

  • Responsible AI, Data Governance & Ethics

• Ensure alignment with manufacturing, mobility, industrial AI, and smart systems

• Promote experiential and project-based learning with industry participation

Industry & Applied Innovation

• Build partnerships with AI firms, manufacturing companies, startups, and research institutions

• Enable internships, live projects, industry immersions, and executive education programs

• Drive applied research, AI solution development, and technology commercialization

• Establish industry-sponsored labs, centers of excellence, and innovation hubs

• Foster entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary collaboration

Faculty & Operational Leadership

• Recruit, mentor, and lead faculty and researchers in AI & Data Science

• Encourage interdisciplinary work across engineering and technology domains

• Oversee budgeting, infrastructure, and digital technology resources

• Support strong student outcomes, career readiness, and research exposure

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. from a reputed national or global university in:

  • Computer Science

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Data Science

  • Information Systems

  • Electrical Engineering (AI-focused) or related disciplines

• 20+ years of combined experience in academia, research, and/or industry

• Senior leadership experience as Dean / Director / School Head / Center Head or equivalent

• Strong understanding of AI-driven enterprises, digital transformation, and industrial AI applications
