Essential Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the relevant discipline

  • First Class or equivalent at preceding degree levels

  • Consistently good academic record throughout

Experience Requirements

Professor

  • Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience

  • At least 4 years as Associate Professor in IITs or similar institutes of national importance

  • Strong leadership in research, Ph.D. supervision, publications, patents, sponsored projects, and academic development

Associate Professor

  • Minimum 6 years of teaching/research/industry experience

  • At least 3 years as Assistant Professor

  • Independent research record with M.Tech/Ph.D. supervision and funded projects

Assistant Professor – Grade I

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (excluding Ph.D. period)

  • Demonstrated research capability through publications

  • Preferably below 35 years of age

Assistant Professor – Grade II

  • Candidates meeting all criteria except post-Ph.D. experience

  • Eligible for promotion after completion of required experience

Visiting Professor / Retired Professors (Contract / Deputation)

  • Serving or retired faculty from CFTIs

  • Proven teaching, research, leadership, and mentorship record

Pay Scale (7th CPC)

  • Professor: Academic Pay Level 14A – ₹1,59,100 to ₹2,20,200

  • Associate Professor: Academic Pay Level 13A2 – ₹1,39,600 to ₹2,11,300

  • Assistant Professor Grade I: Academic Pay Level 12 – ₹1,01,500 to ₹1,67,400

  • Assistant Professor Grade II: Entry Pay Level 10 – ₹57,700 to ₹98,200 (minimum ₹70,900), moving to Level 11 after 1 year post-Ph.D.

  • Visiting / Retired Professors: Remuneration as per institute norms
