It is a grant-in-aid institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. TISS has been recognized as a Grade I University by NAAC (2024). The institute operates campuses in Mumbai (main campus), Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Tuljapur and offers 05 undergraduate programmes, 52 master’s programmes, and 21 Ph.D. programmes in various interdisciplinary fields of social sciences.
