About the ESG Research Chair

The Mirae Asset Foundation (MAF) – SVKM’s NMIMS ESG Research Chair is a prestigious academic initiative established to advance research, teaching, policy engagement, and industry collaboration in the fields of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability.

Supported by the Mirae Asset Foundation, the Chair seeks to promote thought leadership, foster impactful research, and strengthen ESG education while building partnerships with industry, policymakers, and civil society organizations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research & Knowledge Creation

• Conduct and lead original research in ESG, sustainability, and responsible business practices.
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals, policy briefs, and working papers.
• Develop case studies, books, and teaching materials related to ESG and sustainability.
• Participate in funded research projects and consultancy assignments.

2. Academic & Teaching Contributions

Design and deliver postgraduate-level courses in areas such as:

• ESG and Sustainability
• Sustainable Finance
• Responsible Leadership
• Governance and Ethics
• Public Policy

3. Institutional & Industry Engagement

Collaborate with:

• Corporates
• NGOs
• Regulatory bodies

Organize and contribute to:

Develop partnerships for:

4. ESG Chair Activities

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

• Ph.D. in:
  • Management
  • Finance
  • Economics
  • Sustainability
  • Public Policy
  • Related disciplines
• Strong academic credentials and research publications.
• Minimum 3–5 years of postgraduate teaching experience.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in ESG, sustainability, CSR, or development sectors.
• Industry, consulting, or policy-making experience.
• Experience managing funded research projects.
• Familiarity with ESG frameworks such as:
  • GRI (Global Reporting Initiative)
  • BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting)
