BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus has invited applications for the position of Research Assistant under a National Foundation for Science and Gender (NFSG)-funded research project titled “Progressive Writer’s Movement and the Politics of Gender in Mid-Twentieth Century South Asia.” The project offers an exciting opportunity for young researchers interested in humanities, gender studies, literary and cultural studies, and South Asian history.

Key Responsibilities
The selected Research Assistant will be expected to:
- Conduct qualitative research and data collection.
- Perform extensive literature reviews and critical analysis.
- Support library and archival research.
- Assist in preparing research reports and project documentation.
- Contribute to the development of digital repositories.
- Work independently under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
- Travel for project-related fieldwork and data collection, whenever required.
- Assist in research dissemination through seminars, publications, and scholarly presentations.
- Coordinate with researchers, academic collaborators, and project stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Strong knowledge of qualitative research methodologies.
- Background in literary studies, cultural studies, gender studies, comparative literature, history, or related humanities disciplines.
- Experience in library and archival research.
- Excellent academic writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews.
- Willingness to undertake fieldwork and travel for research purposes.
- Interest in regional languages, bhasha literature, and South Asian literary traditions.
Desirable Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates having:
- Experience in academic networking and collaborative research.
- Research presentation experience at conferences or seminars.
- Stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills.
- Knowledge of digital humanities and archival documentation.
Fellowship
Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly fellowship ranging from:
₹38,500 – ₹45,000 per month
The exact fellowship amount will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant research experience and qualifications.
Additional Opportunity
Outstanding candidates may also be considered for admission to a Ph.D. programme in Comparative Literature, subject to the availability of vacancies and fulfillment of the institute’s admission requirements.
