About the Recruitment

The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) has invited applications from Indian nationals for Senior Project Scientist positions under the research project “Primer on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (PoDRI)”.

The project is being undertaken by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is funded by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

About the Project

The project aims to develop a high-quality, self-paced and open-access online course on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, comprising approximately 8–10 hours of asynchronous learning.

The course is intended for a wide range of global stakeholders, including:

  • Students and faculty
  • Policymakers
  • Financiers
  • Engineers
  • Disaster Risk Reduction professionals

The programme will cover foundational and applied knowledge related to disaster-resilient infrastructure, including transport, power, social infrastructure and buried infrastructure, particularly in the context of natural hazards.

Educational Qualification

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, such as:

  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Natural Hazards
  • Infrastructure
  • Related interdisciplinary areas

Preferred Profile

Candidates should preferably have:

  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Good communication abilities
  • Experience or knowledge in disaster risk reduction or infrastructure resilience
  • Ability to convert complex scientific and engineering concepts into clear and engaging educational resources

Nature of Appointment

The initial appointment will be for six months or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

Continuation or renewal, where applicable, will depend on:

  • Satisfactory performance
  • Project requirements
  • Availability of the position under the project
