The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Guwahati is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF – Direct) under a research project focused on an unusual CRISPR-Cas system and its molecular mechanisms.

Project Details

Project Title:
“Unravelling the Functional Mechanism of Target Recognition and Cleavage in an Unusual CRISPR-Cas System”

The selected candidate will contribute to research involving CRISPR-Cas systems, molecular biology, biochemistry, computational biology and structural biology.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or relevant discipline
• M.E./M.Tech. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or relevant discipline
• M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or relevant discipline

Candidates must also have qualified NET/GATE or an equivalent national-level eligibility examination.

Research Experience

Candidates should have sound practical experience in relevant research areas, including:

• Bioinformatics
• Molecular Biology
• Biochemistry
• Cloning
• Protein Expression
• Protein Purification
• Computational Biology
• Structural Biology
• Standard molecular biology techniques

Experience relevant to CRISPR-Cas research will be particularly useful for the project.

Fellowship / Remuneration

Recommended Pay: ₹37,000 per month
HRA: ₹7,400 per month
Total Monthly Amount: ₹44,400 per month

Medical: Nil

Duration

The appointment will initially be for 04 months.

The position is temporary and co-terminus with the research project.
