Essential Qualification
Candidates must possess:
- A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Candidates must have cleared UGC NET/CSIR NET/SET or another UGC-accredited eligibility test, subject to applicable exemptions.
- Candidates holding a Ph.D. awarded in accordance with applicable UGC regulations may be exempt from NET/SET, subject to the prescribed conditions.
- For Ph.D. holders registered before 11 July 2009, the specified UGC conditions regarding regular-mode Ph.D., thesis evaluation, viva voce, research publications and conference presentations must be satisfied.
- NET/SET is not required for Master’s programmes in disciplines where NET/SET is not conducted by the relevant national agencies.
- A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in QS, THE or ARWU rankings may also satisfy the applicable exemption requirements.
