The University of Allahabad, Prayagraj invites applications for 01 Junior Research Assistant (JRA) position in the Department of Zoology under a research project funded by the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh (CSTUP). Project Title

“Assessment of Microplastic Load, Associated Risks, and Sustainable Mitigation Measures in the Mandakini River, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh”

The research will investigate microplastic contamination, its environmental risks, and sustainable approaches for mitigating microplastic pollution in the river ecosystem.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

  • M.Sc. in Life Science / Environmental Science or related discipline
  • First-Class academic record

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • NET qualification
  • Experience in aquatic ecology
  • Knowledge of microplastic analysis
  • Experience with FTIR spectroscopy
  • Experience with Raman spectroscopy
  • Environmental monitoring experience
  • Field sampling and related techniques

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is:

28 years as on 01 April 2026

Applicable age relaxation will be provided as per the relevant rules and official notification.

Residency Requirement

Applicants should be:

  • Indian citizens
  • Residents of Uttar Pradesh

Fellowship

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated fellowship of:

First 2 Years: INR 25,000 per month
Third Year: INR 28,000 per month

Duration of Appointment

The research project is for a total period of 3 years.

The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with annual renewal subject to:

  • Satisfactory performance
  • Continuation of the project
  • CSTUP norms
  • Applicable University rules
