KAHE is approved by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MoHRD) of the Government of India, established based on Section 3 of the UGC (Higher Education Commission) Act 1956. It is headed by Dr R. R. Vashanthakumar who is also the President of Karkatchari Charitable Trust (KCT). He is a philanthropist, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, and a cultural promoter.
