Admission to the Integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Program in Science – 2024
IACS is conducting a de novo five-year Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Program in Science for highly motivated students who have passed (10+2) level Examination in science stream. The objective of this program is to provide high-quality education, research, and training in science. Through this special program, undergraduate teaching is integrated with modern research in all major Schools of the Institute. The first three semesters of the program will comprise foundational courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science and Biological Sciences. From the fourth semester onwards, the students will choose one discipline (from Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Mathematics and Computer Science) as majors, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria and availability of seats in the respective Schools. From the seventh semester the students will be directly exposed to research.
Applications are invited from bright and motivated Indian nationals for admission to the Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Program in Science-2024 likely to begin from August 8, 2024.
The applicants who are due to complete their 10+2 level Board Examinations are eligible to appear in a UG Pre-Interview Screening Test (UPST). UPST-2024 will be conducted in a fully computer-based test mode tentatively on 16th June 2024 between 14.00 hrs – 17.00 hrs in various cities across India.
For the UPST, candidates need to attempt 20 questions (2 marks each) from the three compulsory subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and another 20 questions (2 marks each) from either Biology or Computer Science. There will be 1 (one) negative mark for 3 (three) wrong answers.
(a) A cut-off mark to be set based on the aggregate-score of the three compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in the written test for shortlisting for an interview.
(b) Final merit list will be prepared considering appropriate weightage of the written test score (including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/ Computer Sciences) as well as the score in the interview. Both the written- test score and the interview score will be individually scaled to 100 prior to calculating the weightage values.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview, out of which a maximum of eighty (80) candidates will be selected for the Program as will be declared in IACS website. The selection will be based on the performance in UPST followed by interview, and subject to obtaining 60% marks (reservation criteria will apply as per rules) in the qualifying board (10+2) examination. IACS reserves the right to fix the aggregate cut-off marks in the UPST and also the relative weightage of the interview and the written test.
