  • History and Archaeology

Qualification:

  • A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign university.

  • Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR, or a similar accredited test such as SET.

  • OR candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016 and amendments) are exempted from NET/SET.

Ph.D. candidates registered prior to July 11, 2009 shall be exempted from NET/SET if they meet the following conditions:

  1. Ph.D. degree awarded in regular mode.

  2. Thesis evaluated by at least two examiners.

  3. Open viva voce conducted.

  4. Two research papers published (one in a refereed journal).

  5. Two conference/seminar presentations supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency.

Note:

  • NET is not required for disciplines where it is not conducted by UGC/CSIR.

  • Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 globally (QS / THE / ARWU) is also acceptable.

Pay Scale:

  • ₹40,000/- per month for candidates with UGC/CSIR-NET

  • ₹45,000/- per month for candidates with UGC/CSIR-NET and Ph.D.
