Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (CSKHPKV) is a leading agricultural university located in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Established on 1 November 1978, it evolved from the College of Agriculture (established in 1966).

The university focuses on Hill Agriculture and is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It offers B.Tech, M.Sc, and M.V.Sc programmes across various agricultural specializations. The university is ranked 11th among 75 ICAR Universities in India.

Qualification Requirements

Essential:

  • Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline

  • Must have qualified NET from ICAR/UGC/CSIR or similar test recognized by UGC/State

Additional Requirements for Master’s Degree Holders:

  • NET is compulsory

  • Minimum one publication in a NAAS-rated refereed journal

NET Exemption (Only for Ph.D candidates registered before 11 July 2009):

NET may be waived if:
a) Ph.D awarded in regular mode
b) Thesis evaluated by two external examiners
c) Open viva-voce conducted
d) Two research papers published from Ph.D work (at least one in a refereed journal)
e) Two seminar/conference presentations based on Ph.D work

All conditions (a–e) must be certified by the Vice-Chancellor / Concerned Dean.

Additional Notes:

  • Retired university/college teachers may also apply

  • NET may be relaxed in exceptional cases by the competent authority

Pay Scale

Master’s Degree Holders:

  • ₹850 per contact hour

  • Maximum ₹35,000/month

Ph.D Degree Holders:

  • ₹1000 per contact hour

  • Maximum ₹42,000/month
