Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar was established in 1987 as a Regional Engineering College and was granted the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) on October 17, 2002 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya).
