Organization Profile

Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), formerly known as Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology, was established in 1968 by the Government of India with UNDP assistance at Chennai. The institute was created with the objective of developing skilled manpower in Plastics Engineering & Technology, an area where no similar specialized institute existed in the country at the time. Today, CIPET continues to play a pivotal role in technical education, skill development, and applied research in the petrochemical and plastics sectors.

Essential Qualifications

Lecturer (Plastics/Polymer/Mechanical):

  • Full-time Bachelor’s degree with First Class or equivalent in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline.

  • If holding a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology, First Class or equivalent is required at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year teaching in Polytechnic/Engineering College. Preference for M.E./M.Tech. with First Class OR Ph.D. in relevant discipline.

Lecturer (Mathematics/English/Chemistry):

  • Full-time First Class Master’s degree in the relevant discipline.

  • Experience: At least 1 year teaching experience in Polytechnic/Engineering College.

Consultant Trainee (Mobilization):

  • Full-time Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Industrial/Chemical/EEE/DPT/DPMT/PGD-PPT OR Full-time B.Sc. in relevant branch with First Class.

  • Experience: 1–2 years in relevant field.

Remuneration

  • Lecturer (Plastics/Polymer/Mechanical): ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 p.m.

  • Lecturer (Mathematics/English/Chemistry): ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 p.m.

  • Consultant Trainee (Mobilization): ₹20,000 – ₹30,000 p.m.
