The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is a premier organization dedicated to the study and preservation of arts and cultural heritage. Located in New Delhi, IGNCA adopts a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to explore the interrelationships between arts, culture, and the environment.
IGNCA is seeking a Foreign Associate Fellow to join its Conservation Division and contribute to international outreach, collaborative projects, and cultural preservation initiatives.
Position Details
Job Title:
Foreign Associate Fellow

Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality:
Open only to foreign nationals with diplomatic relations with India.
Indian citizens are not eligible.
Educational Qualification:
Postgraduate degree in Conservation, Museology, Art History, Communication Arts, Design, Architecture, or related fields from a recognized university/institution.
Professional Experience:
Minimum 20 years of experience in Conservation, Museology, Exhibition Design, Arts and Heritage Management, or Visual Communication.
Prior work as a mid-level staff member in reputed international cultural organizations (e.g., UNESCO, ICCROM, GETTY).
Age Limit:
Below 50 years as of the advertisement publication date.
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English (mandatory).
Working knowledge of one Asian language and one European language (spoken or written).
Additional Requirements:
Experience in international project management, cultural cooperation, and heritage preservation.
Willingness to relocate to New Delhi and travel within India if required.
Valid medical and travel insurance for the fellowship duration.
Fellowship Structure & Benefits
1. Monthly Honorarium:
₹1,50,000 per month
2. Housing Allowance:
₹50,000 per month (or IGNCA-provided accommodation, subject to availability).
3. Designation:
Equivalent to Associate Professor for administrative purposes.
4. Additional Benefits:
Visa compliance as per Indian regulations for foreign nationals.
Health insurance (to be arranged by the fellow).
Tenure:
Initial duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance and institutional needs).
Key Responsibilities
Project Development & Coordination:
Design and execute exhibitions, workshops, and digital content to showcase IGNCA’s conservation initiatives.
Mobilize resources through cultural exchanges and partnerships.
International Collaboration:
Foster partnerships with global institutions (e.g., UNESCO, ICCROM).
Organize international conferences and advocacy campaigns.
Capacity Building:
Conduct training modules on:
Art curation and exhibition design.
Heritage management and disaster risk mitigation.
Develop publications and educational resources on cultural preservation.
Public Engagement:
Lead community-based heritage preservation projects.
Align IGNCA’s initiatives with global discourses on climate, digital media, and intercultural dialogue.
