Organisation Profile: The Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (GVPCE) was founded in December 1996 with four branches and 200 students. The library was established in 1996 and was renamed the Prof. B. Sarveswara Rao Library in 2005 in honor of the renowned economist, former vice-chancellor of Nagarjuna University, emeritus professor of economics at AU, and economic advisor to the Nigerian government, Gayatri Vidya Parishad. In addition the library is well-stocked with contemporary materials and amenities, including video cassettes and CD/DVD ROMs. Digital repositories, microform documents, video cassettes, books, theses, project reports, back volumes of journals, and NPTEL video lessons. Also Koha, an integrated library administration software package that includes all the modules needed for automated library operations and a bar code system, is what the library is now employing.
The library is spread across two floors. Books for Loan are located on the first floor. Reference, expensive and rare books, and books for weaker sections are located on the second floor. Journals, Magazines (General and Spiritual), Back Volume of Journals, Student Projects, Non Book Material (CD’s / DVD’s / Audio Video Lessons) and Digital Library.
