Organization Profile

Himachal Pradesh attained statehood on 25th January 1971. Prior to this, the functions of the Public Service Commission were discharged by the Union Public Service Commission under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. After statehood, it became necessary for Himachal Pradesh to establish its own Public Service Commission to manage recruitment for civil services and academic posts within the state.

Qualification

  • General / General-EWS: Minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree

  • SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / PWD (H.P.): Minimum 50% marks in Master’s Degree

  • Master’s Degree must be from UGC-recognized universities/institutions

Provisional Eligibility:
Candidates pursuing or awaiting results of their Master’s Degree may apply provisionally. Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree within two years from the date of SET result, failing which they will be disqualified.

Relaxation for Ph.D. Holders:
Candidates who completed Master’s Degree on or before 19 September 1991 are eligible for 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.

Important Notes:

  • Candidates must appear in the same subject as their post-graduation

  • SET/NET qualification in a subject different from Master’s Degree will not be considered

  • Category certificates must be issued on parental lineage by competent authority

  • Foreign degrees/diplomas must be validated through Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi

Exemption / Eligibility for Assistant Professor

  • NET/SET is mandatory for Assistant Professor recruitment

  • Ph.D. holders awarded under UGC Regulations 2022 are exempted from NET/SET

  • SET Qualification Rules:

    • SET cleared before 1 June 2002 → Eligible across India

    • SET cleared after 1 June 2002 → Eligible only within the respective state

  • No age limit and unlimited attempts for SET

  3. Complete One Time Registration (OTR)

  4. Log in and select State Eligibility Test-2026

  5. Upload required documents and pay applicable fees

  6. Preview documents and submit declaration before final submission
