Organisation Profile: In 1918, Sir Robert McCarrison established the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) as the “Beri-Beri” Enquiry Unit in a one-room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. This unit developed into a “Deficiency Disease Enquiry” in just seven years, and in 1928 it became a full-fledged “Nutrition Research Laboratories” (NRL), with Dr. McCarrison serving as its first Director. In 1958, it was moved to Hyderabad.In 1969, it celebrated its golden jubilee and changed its name to the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN).

Selection Procedure: After verification of the applications,the names of eligible candidates list will be displayed on the official website www.nin.res.in. The applications are shortlisted for the interview based on the decision of the Screening Committee as per the project requirements.Interview can be conducted for the shortlisted candidates through online(Video call/Video-Conferencing) to select the suitable candidate in later course.The candidates have to make their own arrangements for video call/video-conferencing facilities for online interviews.The link will be sent to the shortlisted candidates for online interviews.The applicants are advised to visit our website regularly for any updates and changes in the recruitment process.
Qualification:
1) For Jr.Medical Officer:
- No.of Vacancies: 01 post
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years
- Consolidated Salary:60,000+15,000(FDA)
- Tenure: Four months
- Essential: MBBS/AYUSH/BDS Degree from a recognized university and registration in the respective medical/AYUSH/dental council and willing to work in the field and able to understand local language.
- Desirable:Masters in Public Health or minimum of one year experience in field or community studies
2) For SRF(Anthropology/Sociology/Social work):
- No.of Vacancies: 01 position
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years
- Consolidated Salary:44,400+12,000(FDA)
- Tenure: Four months
- Essential: Post Graduation(M.SC./M.A./MSW) in Anthropology/Sociology/Social Science/Social Work from a recognized university and willing to work in the field and able to understand local language.
- Desirable: One year experience in conducting anthropometry, mobile tablet based data collection in field or community studies.
3) For Sr.Technical Assistant:
- No.of Vacancies: 02 position
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years
- Consolidated Salary:32,000+12,000(FDA)
- Tenure: Four months
- Essential: Graduate in Anthropology/Sociology/Social Science/Science(Biochemistry/Microbiology)/Social Work from a recognized university with minimum two years of experience or Post Graduate degree in above specified subjects will be considered as two years of experience and willing to work in the field.
- Desirable: Experience in drawing blood sample,processing blood sample in field studies.
4) For Project Assistant(phlebotomist):
- No.of Vacancies: 01 post
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years
- Consolidated Salary:31,000+12,000(FDA)
- Tenure: Four months
- Essential: Graduate in MLT from a recognized university OR DMLT with one year relevant experience(blood sample collection) OR B.Sc(nursing) OR Two years nursing with one year of relevant experience (blood sample collection) and willing to work in the field and able to understand local language.

Terms and Conditions:
1. The number of posts may vary according to the project requirement.
2. The above posts are temporary basis.
3. The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reasons and no correspondance in this matter will be entertained.
4. Age relaxation is admissible in respect of Retrenched Government Employees,Departmental Candidates(including projects) and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time.
5. Age,Qualifications,etc will be reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications.
6. Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and 3 years in case of OBC category as per DOPT rules.The candidates should ensure that they belong to the OBC category if applicable while applying the project posts.Such candidates should produce a valid OBC-Non Creamy Layer certificate in the prescribed format during document verification that he/she doesnot belong to the creamy layer.The OBC certificate should not be older than one year at the time of joining the post.In case of not complying with these stipulations,their candidature or OBC reservation will not be entertained.
7. Presently serving or previously served ICMR-Project employees who have completed three years of project service are not eligible to appear for walk-in-interview.The maximum term of any project position in any multiple projects,with breaks or without breaks shall be three years only.
8. Since,the posts are temporary,the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointment at ICMR-NIN or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
9. The results of the final selection will be placed on ICMR-NIN website only.No intimation will be sent by email/phone.
10.At the time of joining duty,the candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualifications(from SSC onwards),No Objection Certificate from present employer,Experience,Aadhar card,Community and PWD Certificate (if applicable) for availing age relaxation,passport size photograph along with one set of photocopies of the certificates duly attested(can be self attested) for verification.
11.The conditions of employment will be the same as that of the project staff on contract basis.
12.Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
