Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) traces its origins to the Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry established in 1823 by the French Government. The foundation for the new medical college was laid in 1956, and the hospital was inaugurated in 1964.

JIPMER became an Institution of National Importance in 2008 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The institute focuses on teaching, research, and patient care in the healthcare sector. Spread across 192 acres, JIPMER includes academic buildings, hospital blocks, a nursing college, residential complexes, and research facilities offering medical, nursing, and allied health science courses from basic to super specialty levels.

Qualification

Essential

  • Postgraduate Psychiatry qualification MD Psychiatry or equivalent recognized qualification.

  • Three years of experience in Psychiatry in a recognized institution after obtaining MD or equivalent qualification.

Desirable

  • Clinical or research experience in Telemedicine / Tele-training.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary research teams.

  • Indexed scientific publications.

Candidate Profile

  • UG / PG in the relevant discipline with good academic records.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Passion for teaching and mentoring students.

  • Strong research background.

Salary

  • Assistant Professor: ₹1,50,000 per month (consolidated)

  • Senior Resident: ₹1,00,000 per month (consolidated)

(No additional allowances are payable.)
