About the Opportunity:
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, in collaboration with IIT Guwahati’s TIDF THI program, invites applications for one JRF and one Project Associate-I position to work on an innovative research project focused on underwater monitoring systems. This is an exceptional opportunity for candidates interested in computer vision, artificial intelligence, and acoustic communication to contribute to cutting-edge research with real-world applications.

Project Details:

Title: Autonomous Underwater Monitoring System for Detecting and Classifying Objects Using Computer Vision and Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks
Funding Agency: IIT Guwahati TIDF THI
Duration: 10 months (extendable based on project requirements)

Research Focus Areas:

  • Development of AI/ML algorithms for underwater object detection

  • Acoustic communication system design

  • Integration of computer vision with cognitive radio networks

  • Field testing and validation of the monitoring system

Position 1: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Emoluments: ₹37,000/month + HRA
Essential Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences OR

  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Professional Courses AND

    • Qualified through:

      • CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) OR

      • GATE OR

      • National-level examinations conducted by Central Government agencies (DST, DBT, DRDO, etc.)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or Communication Engineering with specialization in:

    • Artificial Intelligence

    • Computer Vision

    • Acoustic Communication

Position 2: Project Associate-I (PA)

Emoluments:

  • ₹31,000/month + HRA (for candidates with NET/GATE qualification)

  • ₹25,000/month + HRA (for others)

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Natural/Agricultural Sciences OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine

Desirable Qualifications:

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or Communication Engineering

  • Specialization in AI, Computer Vision, or related fields

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and developing underwater acoustic communication systems

  • Implement AI/ML models for object detection and classification

  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation and research papers

  • Collaborate with the PI and Co-PI on experimental validation
