Organization Profile: The National Law University Odisha (NLUO) was established in the year 2009 under The National Law University Orissa Act, 2008 (Act 4 of 2008) passed by the Odisha State Legislature and commenced its academic activities in the academic year 2009-10.

The University has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, and has been receiving grants under the XIIth Plan. The Bar Council of India recognises the degrees offered. It is also an associate member of the UGC-INFLIBNET, and a participant in the National Knowledge Network under the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, Government of India.

Admission: Three Year LL.B. Degree Program and Full Time and Part Time Ph.D. Degree Program for the Academic Year 2024-25

There are 60 seats for the three-year LL.B. degree program. Interested and eligible candidates are required to apply online and make payment of Rs 3,000/- General candidates and Rs.2500/- for SC/ST candidates on or before April 12, 2024.

Admissions are open for Fifteen (15) full-time Ph.D. seats, (05) Part-time seats for the Ph.D. in Law, and Five (3 full-time and 2 part-time) in Interdisciplinary with Law. Interested and eligible candidates are required to send duly filled application along with a proof of payment Rs 5,000/-(Rs.4000/- for SC/ST candidates) through online mode and must reach the Office of the RIC, NLU on or before 12th April, 2024. The University offers Rs. 30,000/- per month stipend for full-time Ph.D. Scholars.

Admissions in the three-year LL.B. program and Ph.D. program will be made on the basis of admission tests. Candidates for Ph.D are required to submit a research proposal along with the entrance Test Form unless exempted from the Entrance Test. The Admission to Ph.D will be done on the basis of presentation of Research Proposal by the shortlisted candidates.
