National Sanskrit University was originally established as the Central Sanskrit Institute at Tirupati in 1961 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India based on the recommendations of the Central Sanskrit Commission. The institute was created to preserve and promote traditional Sanskrit learning while integrating modern research methodologies.
The institution was administered through the Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha Tirupati Society, an autonomous body formed by the Government of India. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India, on 4 January 1962. The campus is located at the foot of the Seven Hills of Tirumala, on land donated by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Minimum 8 years of teaching or research experience at the level of Assistant Professor in a University / College / Research Institution / Industry

Minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals

Total Research Score of 75 as per UGC Regulations 2018
