Organization Profile

The Radhakrishnan University Education Commission (1949) recommended the establishment of agricultural universities in India. Later, an Indo-American team chaired by Dr. K. R. Damle (1955), then Vice-President of ICAR, proposed an education model similar to the Land Grant Colleges in the USA.
The Planning Commission highlighted the shortage of trained professionals in agriculture and allied sciences, which led to the establishment of agricultural universities to integrate teaching, research, and extension effectively.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 2nd Class Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned discipline with at least 55% marks / equivalent OGPA

  2. Minimum 2nd Class Master’s Degree in the concerned discipline with at least 55% marks / equivalent OGPA

  3. Must have cleared NET with one publication in NAAS-rated journal

  4. Candidates with Ph.D. in the concerned subject (with course work) as per UGC Regulations 2009 shall be exempted from NET, provided they have minimum 2 full-length publications with NAAS rating ≥ 4

  5. Ph.D. without course work is not eligible for NET exemption
