Organization Profile

Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, has a rich legacy dating back to 1921, initially established as Mugalpura Engineering College in Lahore. The institute shifted to its current campus in 1953 and later affiliated with Panjab University. PEC became a Deemed University in 2003 and was renamed PEC University of Technology in 2009.

Spanning 146 acres, the campus also houses the Chandigarh College of Architecture. PEC operates under the administration of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Government of India. Its academic and administrative systems are similar to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The institute is governed by a Board of Governors chaired by industrialist Sh. Rajinder Gupta and is headed by a Director equivalent to a Vice Chancellor.

Tenure

The position is coterminous with the project.

Essential Qualification

  • Master’s Degree in Sciences or Engineering from a recognized university.

Fellowship

  • ₹31,000 + HRA for candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE or national-level examinations conducted by central government departments/institutions.

  • ₹25,000 + HRA for other eligible candidates not covered under the above category.

Age Limit

  • Upper Age Limit: 35 years on the last date of application.

  • Relaxation: Applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.
