Project Overview

The Centre for Indian Language Data (COIL-D) project is a significant initiative focused on building resources and technologies for Indian languages. The project involves creating datasets, developing Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools, and working on cutting-edge areas like Machine Translation and Large Language Models to advance the field of language technology in India.

Available Positions

1. Senior Research Associate (Technical)

  • Essential Qualification: M.Tech/M.E./MS in Computer Science and Engineering/ AI/ Data Science/ ML/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Electrical Engineering with at least 1 year of experience in a relevant area.

  • Required Exposure: Proven experience in NLP, Machine Translation, and Large Language Models (LLMs).

2. Junior Research Associate (Technical)

  • Essential Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in CSE, IT, AI & DS, ECE, EE or MCA or M.Sc. (Computer Science).

  • Required Skills: Experience in building systems in AI, ML, and NLP. Exposure to creating and maintaining GUI/Webpages and data management.

3. Junior Research Associate (Odia Language)

  • Essential Qualification:

    • B.A. (Language or Linguistics) with 2 years of experience, OR

    • M.A. (Language or Linguistics), OR

    • M.Phil./Ph.D. in Language, Linguistics, or a related discipline.

  • Required Skills: Proficiency in Odia and Hindi languages. Exposure to parallel corpus creation, data annotation, and experience working on a language technology project.

Tenure

All positions are temporary. The initial appointment is for one year, which may be extended based on performance until the closure of the project.

Pay Scale / Fellowship

  • Senior Research Associate (Technical): ₹70,000 per month with a 10% annual increment.

  • Junior Research Associate (Technical): ₹50,000 per month with a 10% annual increment.

  • Junior Research Associate (Odia Language): ₹45,000 per month with a 10% annual increment.
