Job Summary

The Lecturer for Values Education & Student Counselling will be responsible for teaching ethics, life skills, moral values, and soft skills, while also providing counselling support to students to help them navigate academic, personal, emotional, and social challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Teach courses on values education, ethics, soft skills, and personal development as per institutional curriculum.

  • Deliver lesson plans using approved teaching materials, assessments, and SOPs.

  • Develop critical thinking, empathy, and ethical decision-making in students.

Student Counselling & Mentorship

  • Provide individual and group counselling for academic, emotional, and behavioural concerns.

  • Offer crisis intervention and referrals to external professionals when needed.

  • Conduct orientation programs to support new students during college transition.

  • Maintain confidential counselling records.

Institutional Support

  • Work with faculty to identify and support at-risk students.

  • Assist in anti-ragging initiatives, disciplinary committees, and grievance redressal.

  • Promote inclusivity, mental health awareness, and student well-being.

Research & Professional Development

  • Stay updated in counselling techniques, educational psychology, and pedagogic practices.

  • Participate in faculty development programs and academic workshops.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or Education (with specialization in values/ethics).

  • 3–5 years of teaching experience (preferably in higher education).

  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Certification in REBT, CBT, NLP, or equivalent counselling programs.

  • Experience in career counselling, conflict resolution, or youth mentorship.

  • Knowledge of Indian value systems, NEP 2020, and outcome-based education (OBE).

  • Proficiency in relevant regional languages.

Personal Attributes

  • Patience, integrity, and non-judgmental behaviour.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.

  • Strong crisis-management and problem-solving ability.
