The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) traces its origins to the Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC), established in 1952 in Parel, Mumbai, under the Ministry of Health, Government of India. In 1966, it was renamed the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) and later merged with Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), forming the first comprehensive cancer centre in India – the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC). TMC is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.
