The Central University of Jammu (CU Jammu) was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009, and came into existence on 8 August 2011 with the appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor. The university began its first academic session in 2011–2012 with postgraduate programmes in English, Economics, and Applied Mathematics. It subsequently expanded its academic offerings to include several disciplines, including Computer Science, Educational Studies, Environmental Sciences, Human Resource Management, and Travel and Tourism Management.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
  • A valid GATE, NET, or NET-JRF qualification.

Nature of the Position

Selected candidates must pursue a PhD under the Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences at the Central University of Jammu. PhD registration will be through the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, with mentorship from the Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences.

Candidates should note that the JRF position is intended for applicants who will undertake doctoral research as part of the programme.

Salary and Fellowship Details

  • First and Second Years: ₹37,000 per month plus HRA, as per Central University of Jammu norms.
  • Third Year: ₹42,000 per month plus HRA, subject to continuation of the project and applicable university norms.
