About RGIPT
The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) was established by the Government of India through the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) under the RGIPT Act 2007. The institute has been granted the status of an Institution of National Importance by Parliament and is promoted by six leading Oil PSUs—ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL—in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB).

Minimum Qualification
For all faculty positions, candidates should possess:
Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent in the appropriate branch, along with a very good academic record throughout.
Additional Requirements
For Engineering Assistant Professor positions:
Candidates must possess a B.Tech. degree in the relevant discipline.
For Humanities & English:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in English, with Economics, Psychology and Sociology as mandatory subjects at the Bachelor’s level.
Age Limit
The upper age limit as on 31st August 2026 is:
Assistant Professor – Academic Pay Level 10: 35 years
Age relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases. Reserved-category candidates will receive relaxation as per Government of India guidelines.
Pay Scale
As per the 7th Central Pay Commission:
Assistant Professor (Grade-II): Academic Pay Level 10
Pay Scale: ₹57,700 – ₹98,200/-
Entry Basic Pay: ₹70,900/- per month
In addition, candidates will receive Dearness Allowance and Transport Allowance as per Central Government rules.
