Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande Mahavidyalaya, run by Yavatmal Zilla Akhil Kunbi Samaj, was established in 1966 at Umarkhed in Yavatmal District, Maharashtra.

The college is permanently affiliated with Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, and was recognized by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(b) in 1987. The institution was reaccredited by NAAC with an A Grade and CGPA of 3.12 in August 2024.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification from an accredited foreign university.

Candidates must also have qualified:

  • UGC NET
  • CSIR NET
  • SET or an equivalent UGC-accredited test

OR

Possess a Ph.D. awarded in accordance with the applicable UGC regulations, in which case the NET/SET requirement is exempted.

Candidates registered for Ph.D. programmes before 11th July 2009 may be governed by the applicable earlier rules, subject to the conditions specified in the recruitment notice.

A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in QS, THE or Shanghai (ARWU) rankings is also mentioned as an eligible qualification.

Relaxation in Qualification

A 5% relaxation in marks at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels is available for eligible:

  • SC/ST candidates
  • Differently-abled candidates
  • Other Backward Class candidates

A further relaxation from 55% to 50% is available to Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master’s degree before 19th September 1991, as specified in the notice.

An equivalent grade considered equal to 55% by a recognized university will also be accepted.
