About the Project

NIT Calicut invites applications for 01 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I position under an ISRO-sponsored research project in the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Project Title

“Realization of Plasma Gun for Atmospheric Plasma Polishing”

The research project focuses on the development and realization of a plasma gun for atmospheric plasma polishing, an advanced technology with applications in surface treatment and precision manufacturing.

Position Details

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering

For JRF Position

Candidates must have a valid GATE/NET qualification to be considered for appointment as Junior Research Fellow.

For Project Associate-I Position

Candidates who do not possess GATE/NET qualification may also apply and may be considered for the Project Associate-I position, subject to fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility requirements.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge or experience in:

• High Voltage Engineering
• Power Electronics

Relevant research or technical experience in these areas will be an advantage.

Salary / Fellowship

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Candidates meeting the GATE/NET requirement will receive:

₹37,000/- + 20% HRA per month

Project Associate-I

Candidates without GATE/NET qualification, if selected as Project Associate-I, will receive:

₹31,000/- + 20% HRA per month

Age Limit

The upper age limit is 36 years.

Applicable age relaxation, if any, will be provided according to the rules of NIT Calicut and the sponsoring agency.

Duration of Appointment

The selected candidate will be engaged up to 31st March 2027.

The appointment is:

• Contractual
• Temporary
• Project-based
• Co-terminus with the project requirements

Selection Process

Selection will be conducted through an offline interview.

Interview Date: 7th September 2026
