Central Agricultural University (CAU) was established under the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992 (No. 40 of 1992). The Act came into effect on 26th January 1993, following notification by the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Government of India. The university became functional with the joining of its first Vice-Chancellor on 13th September 1993.

The university’s jurisdiction extends across seven North-Eastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura. Its headquarters is located in Imphal, Manipur.

Available Positions and Qualifications

1. Project Associate-I (PA-I)

Essential Qualification:

Master’s degree from a recognized university in any of the following disciplines:

  • Forestry (Forest Biology and Tree Improvement)
  • Forestry (Forest Products and Utilization)
  • Genetics and Plant Breeding
  • Plant Biotechnology
  • Forest Biotechnology

Age Limit: Below 35 years as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India norms.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Working experience in forest genetics, tree improvement, or biotechnology.
  • Experience in bamboo or germplasm surveys and collection.
  • Knowledge of vegetative propagation and nursery techniques.
  • Experience in molecular marker analysis.
  • Knowledge of GIS and Ecological Niche Modelling tools, including MaxEnt and QGIS.
  • Experience in soil analysis.
  • Willingness to travel and stay in difficult terrain or remote locations for fieldwork and sample collection.

Salary:

  • NET-qualified candidates: ₹31,000 per month + HRA.
  • Non-NET-qualified candidates: ₹25,000 per month + HRA.

2. Technical Assistant/Field Assistant-I

Essential Qualification:

Graduate degree in Science from a recognized university.

Age Limit: Below 50 years as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India norms.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in nursery raising.
  • Knowledge of field surveys, germplasm collection, and sample processing.
  • Working knowledge of computers, MS Office, and data entry.
  • Willingness to travel and stay in difficult terrain and remote locations for fieldwork and sample collection.

Salary: ₹20,000 per month + admissible HRA.

Important: Candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be permitted to appear for the interview.
