The establishment of rural universities as a means of delivering agricultural education became the main focus in 1949 with the establishment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission. in 1954, a group of Indo-Americans led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, came up with the concept of founding a rural university in the United States using the land-grant model.

Remuneration: These are strictly temporary, contract roles. Compensation for candidates who meet the requirements to be Assistant Professors in the field will be at the rate of Rs. 650/-per hour with a maximum of Rs. 30,000/-per month OR Rs. 550/-per hour with a maximum of Rs. 25,000/-per month for candidates who hold a Master’s and B.F.Sc. in Fisheries Science.
Qualification:

1. You must have a bachelor’s degree in fisheries science along with a master’s degree in a relevant field, and have scored at least 60% of the total possible points (or an equivalent point system). Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Differently abled categories can avail a relaxation of 5% in marks.
2. To work for ICAR, UGC, CSIR, or any other Central or State government agency, you must have a valid NET or SLET score. If you have a master’s degree, you will need to clear the National Eligibility Test (NET) or SLET along with having one publication in a refereed journal associated with the National Academy of Agricultural Science, New Delhi (NAAS). However, if you have a Ph.D. degree and have completed coursework along with at least two full-length publications with an NAAS grade of four or above by the application deadline, you will be exempted from the essential NET requirements. Candidates with a Ph.D. who lack coursework will not be eligible for NET exemption.
