Role Purpose
To promote students’ social, emotional, behavioural, and academic well-being through counselling, guidance, wellness initiatives, and implementation of CBSE-recommended practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Counselling & Support
-
Provide individual and group counselling for emotional, behavioural, social, and academic concerns such as anxiety, stress, peer issues, self-esteem, and adjustment difficulties.

Identify students at risk and offer early intervention, referrals, and follow-up.

Maintain a confidential, student-friendly counselling environment.
2. Wellness, Life Skills & Awareness
-
Conduct life skills, mental health, and wellness sessions as per CBSE norms.
-
Organise workshops/assemblies on topics like exam stress, digital safety, bullying prevention, substance abuse awareness, and emotional resilience.
3. Academic, Behavioural & Career Guidance
-
Guide students in academic goal-setting, study habits, and stress management.

Collaborate with teachers to identify behavioural issues and recommend strategies.

Offer basic career guidance, assist with subject choices, and coordinate external career resources when required.
4. Collaboration with Teachers & Parents
-
Work closely with teachers to track student progress and design support plans.
-
Conduct parent workshops, orientations, and counselling sessions.
-
Serve as liaison between school, parents, and external mental health professionals for referrals.
5. Policy, Prevention & School Climate
-
Support implementation of CBSE safety standards, child protection guidelines, POCSO awareness, and anti-bullying measures.

Contribute to behaviour management and emotional safety policies.
-
Assist committees such as School Safety Committee, Child Protection Committee, and Inclusion Team.
6. Documentation & Confidentiality
-
Maintain confidential counselling records and intervention reports as per ethical guidelines and CBSE expectations.

Provide periodic non-confidential trend reports to school leadership for planning interventions.
