Educational Qualification
Candidates should possess:
- Ph.D. in the relevant field
- First Class or equivalent in the preceding degree
- Specialization in the appropriate area/branch
- Consistently good academic record throughout
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education
- Ability to conduct original and creative research
Experience Requirement
Candidates with at least three years of industrial, research, or teaching experience may be considered for Assistant Professor Grade I.
Important: Experience acquired before or during the Ph.D. is not counted for this purpose.
Candidates who have a Ph.D. but have less than three years of eligible industrial/research/teaching experience may be considered for Assistant Professor Grade II.
Salary / Pay Scale
Assistant Professor Grade I
- 7th CPC Academic Pay Level 12
- Minimum Pay: ₹1,01,500 per month
- Direct recruits will be placed at Cell No. 1 of Academic Pay Level 12.
- Faculty directly recruited to Grade I and candidates moving from Grade II will undergo one year of probation.
- After completing three years as Assistant Professor Grade I, the incumbent will move to Academic Pay Level 13A1, with pay ranging from ₹1,31,400 – ₹2,04,700.
Assistant Professor Grade II
- 7th CPC Academic Pay Level 10
- Minimum starting Pay: ₹70,900 per month
- After one year of experience, the incumbent will move to Academic Pay Level 11.
- Subsequent placement as Assistant Professor Grade I will depend on fulfillment of the prescribed experience requirements.
Age Limit
- Male candidates: Maximum 35 years
- Female candidates: Maximum 38 years
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation will be applicable according to Government of India norms:
- SC/ST: Up to 5 years
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- General PwBD: Up to 10 years
- EWS: No age relaxation
Note: Female candidates may avail only one applicable age relaxation at a time.

Candidates applying to more than one academic unit must submit a separate online application for each Department/Centre/School.
Candidates with overlapping research interests across multiple academic units may be considered for a joint appointment, if selected.
