About the Institution
Mercy College, Palakkad, is a Government-Aided Women’s Arts and Science College affiliated with the University of Calicut, Kerala. The institution was established in 1964 with the vision of promoting women’s education in the Palakkad region.
The college was founded through the efforts of seven Carmelite sisters from St. Mary’s College, Thrissur, under the inspiration of St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias and Fr. Leopold Beccaro.
The college initially started functioning on 1st July 1964 in a temporary building. It attained first-grade status in 1967 and became affiliated with the University of Calicut in 1968.
