Educational Qualifications
1. Dean – College of Horticulture & Research Station
- Doctoral degree in any branch of Horticulture.
- At least 20 years of total professional experience.
- Minimum five years of experience as a Professor or in an equivalent position.
Desirable qualifications:
- Evidence of contributions to research, teaching or extension education, supported by published work or innovations.
- Administrative experience at the level of Professor, an equivalent position or a higher cadre.
2. Assistant Professor – All Listed Disciplines
Candidates must possess:
- A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade of 6.50 on a 10-point scale.
- A consistently good academic record.
- Qualification in the relevant ICAR/UGC/CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET), or a Ph.D. awarded under applicable UGC regulations that qualifies the candidate for NET exemption, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Relevant disciplines include Vegetable Science, Fruit Science, Floriculture and Landscaping, Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science, Plant Physiology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Statistics and Agricultural Economics.
- Experience in teaching, research or extension education.
- Evidence of research contributions, publications or innovations.
3. Assistant Librarian – Library Science
Candidates must possess:
- A Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree.
- At least 55% marks and a consistently good academic record.
- Knowledge of library computerization.
- Qualification in UGC/CSIR NET or an equivalent UGC-accredited test such as SLET/SET, or a qualifying Ph.D. under applicable UGC regulations that exempts the candidate from NET, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience in library or documentation work.
- Evidence of contributions to library services or documentation through published work or innovations.

For Assistant Professor and Assistant Librarian positions, the upper age limit for bona fide residents of Chhattisgarh is 40 years, subject to the notification’s conditions, and may not exceed 45 years after applicable relaxations.
Age relaxation is available to eligible SC, ST, OBC, women and Divyang (persons with disabilities) candidates who are bona fide residents of Chhattisgarh, in accordance with state government rules. Eligible permanent, temporary and contractual employees of the Chhattisgarh Government may also receive relaxation under the applicable rules.
Appointment Duration
Dean: Appointment is on a tenure basis for up to five years or until attaining 62 years of age, whichever occurs earlier. Candidates from other universities will not be absorbed into MGUVV.
Assistant Professor and Assistant Librarian: Appointments are temporary, with a three-year probation period. Service may be terminated if the probation period is not completed successfully.
