Guest Faculty Recruitment 2026
Panjab University, Chandigarh, has invited applications for the engagement of Guest Faculty in the Department of Forensic Science for the academic session. The appointment is on a temporary basis and the selected candidate will be engaged on a lecture basis.
Eligible candidates with a relevant Master’s degree and NET/SLET/SET or qualifying Ph.D. are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the Guest Faculty position must fulfill the prescribed educational qualifications.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever a grading system is followed, from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
A 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is applicable to candidates belonging to:
- Scheduled Caste (SC)
- Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Differently-abled candidates
- Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non-Creamy Layer)
- Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September 1991
Candidates may also qualify where the Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking at any time by any one of:
- Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
- Times Higher Education (THE)
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
NET / SLET / SET / Ph.D. Requirement
In addition to the required educational qualification, candidates must have cleared:
- UGC-NET
- CSIR-NET
- SLET/SET or another similar test accredited by UGC
Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC regulations may be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement as applicable.
Candidates who were registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July 2009 may also be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement, provided the prescribed Ph.D. conditions are fulfilled.
These conditions include:
- The Ph.D. must have been awarded in regular mode.
- The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce must have been conducted.
- The candidate must have published two research papers from the Ph.D. work, with at least one in a refereed journal.
- The candidate must have made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars based on the Ph.D. research.
- The above conditions must be certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs), as applicable.
Pay Scale / Honorarium
The Guest Faculty assignment will be made on a lecture basis.
- Honorarium: ₹1,500 per lecture
- Maximum monthly limit: ₹50,000 per month
The selected candidate will also have to furnish an undertaking stating that they will not draw any fellowship, stipend, or financial assistance from any agency during the period they are teaching in the Department as Guest Faculty.
