Organization Profile
National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, formerly known as Regional Institute of Technology, was established on 15 August 1960 as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Bihar. The institute is among the early Regional Engineering Colleges established in India and offers education and research programmes across engineering, science, technology, and related disciplines.
Essential Qualification
Candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or a related field.
- Minimum 55% marks.
- Degree from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates having:
- Master’s Degree in Life Sciences.
- Research experience in Molecular Biology.
- Hands-on experience in sub-cloning.
- Experience in protein overexpression.
- Experience in protein purification.
Candidates qualified in national-level examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET, DBT, ICMR, GATE, or NET-JRF are encouraged to apply.
Fellowship / Salary
₹20,000/- per month (Consolidated)
Project Duration
The project has a tenure of 4 Years 3 Months.
The appointment will be purely project-based and subject to the terms and conditions of the sponsored research project and NIT Jamshedpur.
Ph.D. Opportunity
The selected candidate may be eligible to register for a Ph.D. programme at NIT Jamshedpur, subject to fulfilling the prescribed eligibility and admission requirements of the institute.
Job Responsibilities
The selected Project Assistant will work on molecular biology research related to host–pathogen interactions during Legionella infection. Responsibilities may include:
- Molecular biology experiments.
- Sub-cloning and recombinant DNA work.
- Protein expression and purification.
- Laboratory research and data collection.
- Analysis and documentation of experimental results.
- Supporting project-related research activities.
