Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, has invited applications for Teaching Assistant positions in the Department of Civil Engineering on a purely ad-hoc basis. Eligible candidates with the required qualifications in Civil Engineering or allied branches can attend the walk-in selection process on 24 August 2026.

SVNIT, Surat, was established in 1961 as one of the Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) for imparting technical education in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. Over the years, the institute expanded its academic programmes to include Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and several postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

In 2002, the institute was granted the status of a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and it became an Institute of National Importance with effect from 15 August 2007. SVNIT currently offers undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated M.Sc., and doctoral programmes across various engineering and science disciplines.

Teaching Assistant Vacancy

The recruitment is being conducted for Teaching Assistants in the Department of Civil Engineering. The appointments are purely on an ad-hoc basis and are intended for candidates with strong academic credentials in Civil Engineering or allied disciplines.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Teaching Assistant position should have:

  • First Class or equivalent CGPA, with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale, in M.Tech./M.E. and B.Tech./B.E. in Civil Engineering or an allied branch, along with a good academic record.

Candidates possessing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or an allied branch are also eligible, provided they have First Class or equivalent CGPA, with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale, in M.Tech./M.E. and B.Tech./B.E. in Civil Engineering or an allied branch, along with a good academic record.

Pay Scale

The remuneration offered for the Teaching Assistant position is:

  • ₹45,000 per month for candidates with a Master’s Degree.
  • ₹60,000 per month for candidates with a Ph.D.

Walk-in Selection Process

Eligible candidates must attend the walk-in selection process at the Department of Civil Engineering, SVNIT, Surat. Registration and document verification will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on 24 August 2026.

The written test will be conducted from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by interviews from 2:00 PM onwards.

Candidates must bring the prescribed application form along with original supporting documents, including degree certificates, semester-wise mark sheets, experience certificates, testimonials, and other relevant documents. Candidates should also bring one set of self-attested copies of all supporting documents.

For candidates with the same level of performance, preference will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories and PwD categories, as applicable.

Applications submitted on plain paper or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Candidates should ensure that all information provided in the application is accurate. Any wrong or misleading information may result in rejection of the application or termination of appointment if discovered subsequently.
