South Asian University (SAU), a University established by SAARC Nations, has invited applications from Indian nationals for the position of Project Associate to work on a Faculty Research Grant (FRG) supported research project.
The selected candidate will work on the research project titled:
“Digital Twins for Design of Electromagnetic Materials and Devices Using Optimal Control and Finite Element Methods”
The project will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Rohit Khandelwal, Department of Mathematics, South Asian University.

Project Description
The research project aims to develop and analyze structure-preserving finite element discretizations and optimization methods for time-dependent Maxwell’s equations within the framework of PDE-constrained optimization.
The project focuses on computational and mathematical approaches related to:
- Digital Twins
- Electromagnetic materials and devices
- Optimal control
- Finite Element Methods
- Maxwell’s equations
- PDE-constrained optimization
- Numerical analysis
- Computational mathematics
Minimum Qualification
Candidates applying for the Project Associate position should possess:
- M.Sc./M.S./M.Tech. in Mathematics or Computer Science
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Preferred Background
Preference will be given to candidates having a strong background in one or more of the following areas:
- Numerical Analysis
- Finite Element Methods
- Partial Differential Equations
- Optimization
- Computational Mathematics
Candidates possessing relevant research experience and/or programming skills will also be preferred.
Programming Skills
Experience with scientific computing and programming platforms such as the following will be advantageous:
- MATLAB
- Python
- Other scientific computing platforms
Fellowship / Salary
The selected Project Associate will receive:
₹30,000/- per month
Duration
The appointment will initially be for one year.
The appointment may be extended depending upon:
- Satisfactory performance
- Availability of funds
- Rules of South Asian University
