Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) has invited applications from Indian nationals for the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) or Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on a research project sponsored by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), NRB, India.

The project is titled:

“Non-Destructive Evaluation of GFRP Plates Using UWB Based RF Technique Under Moisture and Delamination Conditions.”

The selected research fellow will work on experimental fabrication and testing of glass-fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite plates, RF sensing systems, microwave-composite interactions, non-destructive evaluation (NDE) imaging algorithms and signal-processing techniques.

Research Project

The selected candidate will work on the DRDO-funded project:

“Non-Destructive evaluation of GFRP plates using UWB based RF technique under moisture and delamination conditions.”

Key Research Areas

  • Experimental fabrication of GFRP composite plates
  • Testing of GFRP plates subjected to moisture degradation
  • Investigation of delamination defects
  • Design of Radio Frequency (RF) sensing setups

Essential Qualification

For Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Candidates should possess:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Other relevant engineering branches such as Aerospace Engineering or Naval Engineering

And

  • M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • First Division at both Graduate and Postgraduate levels.
  • Two years of relevant R&D experience.

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Candidates should possess:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Other relevant engineering branches such as Aerospace Engineering or Naval Engineering

And

  • M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • First Division at both Graduate and Postgraduate levels.

Desirable Qualification

The following qualification is desirable:

  • GATE
  • UGC-NET
  • Any other national-level examination qualification

Age Limit

  • SRF: Maximum 32 years
  • JRF: Maximum 30 years

Age Relaxation

The upper age limit is relaxable by:

  • 5 years: SC/ST/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates
  • 3 years: OBC-NCL candidates

Salary / Fellowship

Senior Research Fellow

₹42,000/- per month + 20% HRA, as applicable.

Junior Research Fellow

₹37,000/- per month + 20% HRA, as applicable.

Duration

The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended annually based on the candidate’s performance.

The candidate may also be offered a Ph.D. position, subject to performance and availability of an institute vacancy.

Selection Process

Candidates possessing the prescribed qualifications will not automatically be called for an interview. IIT Jammu may shortlist candidates based on merit and the requirements of the project.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. The interview date and time will be communicated to shortlisted candidates through email. The interview may be conducted using an online/offline platform.

Documents Required for Interview

Shortlisted candidates must appear for the interview with:

  • Updated CV
  • Original mark sheets/certificates supporting educational qualifications
  • Attested photocopies of relevant mark sheets/certificates
  • Documents relating to experience, wherever applicable

Candidates must upload documents related to their educational qualifications, including 10th, 12th, graduation, post-graduation and experience, with the application.
