Essential Qualification
Candidates must satisfy either Eligibility A or Eligibility B.
Eligibility A
Candidates should have:
- A Ph.D. degree in the advertised area of subject/specialization.
- 55% marks, or an equivalent grade in a point scale where applicable, in the preceding Master’s degree in a concerned, relevant or allied subject.
- The degree should be from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
The Ph.D. should have been awarded in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, including subsequent amendments.
Ph.D. Candidates Registered Before 11 July 2009
Candidates registered for a Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009 may be governed by the provisions applicable at that time, subject to fulfillment of the specified conditions.
These include:
- The Ph.D. must have been awarded through regular mode.
- The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce must have been conducted.
- The candidate must have published two research papers from the Ph.D. work, including at least one in a refereed journal.
- The candidate must have presented at least two papers based on the Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored, funded or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency.
Fulfillment of these conditions should be certified by the Registrar, Controller of Examinations or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned university.
Eligibility B
Candidates may also qualify where the Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking at any time by any one of:
- Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
- Times Higher Education (THE)
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Salary / Remuneration
Selected Assistant Professors appointed on a contractual basis will receive:
₹80,000 per month – fixed
No other allowances will be admissible.
Selection Process
Eligible candidates will be required to appear physically before the Selection Committee.
