Professor Eligibility

For the specified disciplines in the various Schools, candidates may qualify through Eligibility A or B.

Eligibility A

Candidates should have:

• A Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
• High-quality published work and active research engagement.
• At least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• A research score of 120 as specified in the applicable criteria.
• At least 10 years of teaching experience in a University/College as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, and/or equivalent research experience at University/National-level institutions.
• Evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates.

Eligibility B

An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. in the relevant/allied/applied discipline from an academic institution, industry or other eligible setting, who has made significant contributions to knowledge in the relevant field and has 10 years of experience, supported by documentary evidence.

Health Sciences – Professor

For the specified Health Science discipline:

• M.B.B.S. with M.D./M.S. from an MCI-recognized Medical College in specified specializations.
• 8 years of post-PG experience.
• Minimum 3 years as Associate Professor in the subject in a permitted/approved/recognized Medical College/Institution.
• 4 research publications in indexed journals cumulatively, including at least 2 during the Associate Professor tenure as first or corresponding author.

Nursing – Professor

• Master’s degree in Nursing with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
• Minimum 14 years of teaching experience after M.Sc. Nursing in a College of Nursing/University as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor.
• Desirable: independent published work of high standard, doctorate degree or M.Phil.

Associate Professor Eligibility

For the specified Schools, candidates should have:

• Good academic record.
• Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
• Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
• Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor.
• At least 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• Total research score of 75 as per the specified criteria.

Health Sciences – Associate Professor

The notification specifies:

• M.S./M.D. in the concerned subject from an MCI-recognized Medical College.
• 5 years of post-PG experience.
• 4 years as Assistant Professor in the subject in a permitted/approved/recognized Medical College/Institution.
• 2 research publications in indexed journals as first or corresponding author.

Nursing – Associate Professor

• Master’s degree in Nursing with at least 55% marks or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of teaching experience after M.Sc. Nursing in a College of Nursing/University in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor.
• Desirable: independent published work of high standard, doctorate degree or M.Phil.

Assistant Professor Eligibility

For the specified disciplines in the School of Sciences, School of Journalism and New Media Studies, and School of InterDisciplinary & TransDisciplinary Studies, candidates should have:

• Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the concerned/relevant/allied subject.
• UGC NET or CSIR NET, or a Ph.D. qualifying for exemption from NET under the applicable UGC regulations.

For Ph.D. candidates registered before 11 July 2009, the notification specifies conditions concerning regular-mode Ph.D., thesis evaluation, viva voce, research publications and conference presentations for NET exemption.

A Ph.D. from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the world ranking by QS, THE or ARWU is also specified under the alternative eligibility route.

Health Sciences – Assistant Professor

The notification specifies:

• M.B.B.S. with M.D./M.S. from an MCI-recognized Medical College in the specified specializations.
• 3 years’ experience as Junior Resident in a recognized Medical College in the concerned subject.
• 1 year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject.
